Integration-first tracking

Integration-first tracking

Extend what you already run

FORMATION integrates with existing systems and data sources to avoid rip-and-replace. Sync locations, status updates, and sensor data through the API and Agent.

Make FORMATION your own with powerful API access. Integrate tracking information, retrieve tabular data about usage, utilization, updates, and more. FORMATION’s APIs enable you to access key insights and data to optimize your operations and workflows.

  • Connect Omlox, MQTT, and other IoT brokers.
  • Update objects on the Map with metadata and sensor readings.
  • Export data into BI tools for deeper analysis.

Keep your system of record in sync

FORMATION bridges location data with enterprise systems so teams can act on real movement without losing ERP consistency. We integrate with SAP and other ERP systems to synchronize asset locations, status changes, and workflow events.

KAMAX, a leading automotive fastener manufacturer, partnered with us in 2022 to integrate the FORMATION Map with their SAP system. While SAP tracks goods using symbolic locations like shelf numbers and halls, it lacks geospatial data. Workers update these locations via barcode scanners, a common industry practice. With FORMATION, we turned this into a low cost tracking solution that, without investment in new infrastructure and processes, provides a lot of added value.

  • Sync storage locations to Map locations for situational awareness.
  • Translate SAP updates into a live, map-based view.
  • Support ERP, MES, and logistics workflows without replacing tools.

Passive Tracking and Active Tracking drive updates

Movement events are a reliable operational signal. FORMATION can turn location updates into ERP actions so SAP stays current without manual re-entry.

When a QR Code scan updates an asset location (Passive Tracking) or when RTLS feeds in real-time movement (Active Tracking), rules can create ERP postings or status updates. This keeps inventory movements and workflow progress aligned with what is actually happening on the floor.

  • Trigger ERP updates on enter and exit of defined zones.
  • Use QR Code scans as low-cost, trusted movement signals.
  • Blend RTLS precision with Passive Tracking coverage.

Identity integrations

OpenID-based sign-ins for fast rollout

FORMATION supports identity integrations so users can sign in with existing accounts. Use OpenID Connect based sign-ins to connect your identity provider and keep access aligned with your internal policies.

Map user groups to Workspace roles, enforce single sign-on, and keep user provisioning centralized without creating separate logins.

  • OpenID Connect for SSO with existing identity providers.
  • Role and group mapping to align permissions.
  • Consistent access control across your Workspace.

Build on existing Barcode powered ERP flows

Barcode-based inventory systems have been used for decades to identify assets and record transactions. They work but they rely on manual scans and were never designed to capture where things actually are.

FORMATION builds on this proven approach by adding location. When assets are scanned with a smartphone or RTLS-enabled scanner, their exact position is recorded automatically. Hybrid Tracking then extends this with active technologies like UWB, BLE/AoA, or RFID where continuous visibility is required, turning long-standing barcode workflows into real-time spatial visibility without replacing them.

  • Leverage what you already have with barcode scanners.
  • Tie inventory updates to Map locations automatically.
  • Extend coverage with Active Tracking where it adds value.
